No. It is real, paid work: £20/hr straight to your bank account, and the App Store reviews quoted on our About page are from people who have been paid. There is a physical studio behind the app too, with a team you can meet in person at Aloe Studios London, and you can read what people say about their experience on Google and Trustpilot.
£20/hr for each recorded conversation you take part in. A session runs 90 minutes, paid at £20/hour. You can book into a limited number of sessions, so this is extra income alongside whatever else you do, not a salary.
No. The app is free to download and free to use, and you are the one being paid. There is no subscription, no fee taken out of what you earn, and nothing to buy.
Directly to your bank, typically within 1–5 business days. It is a bank transfer, not points or vouchers. You can request a payout once you have earned £10.
Apply in the app with a two-minute audition. Once you are approved you get matched with someone else on the app, and the two of you have a conversation that is recorded. That conversation is the work.
Another verified Aloe user. Everyone you are matched with has been through the same audition and account checks you have, so you are talking to a real person who chose to be there.
A session runs 90 minutes, and you can speak to more than one person inside it. Nobody expects you to fill the whole thing with a single conversation.
Whatever you are into. We match people on shared interests where we can, so there is somewhere for the conversation to go without either of you having to force it. There is no script to read.
No experience, and nothing beyond an iPhone running iOS 17 or later. If you can hold a friendly conversation with a stranger, that is the whole skill.
You must be 18 or over. We ask for your date of birth when you create your account, and we verify your age before you are paid — so there is no point applying under 18.
It is the same industry, but not the same job. Data annotation usually means labelling images or text at a desk, paid per task. Here your conversation is what trains the model, and you are paid for your time rather than per label.
Training AI models on natural conversation. Your session sits alongside thousands of others as part of a dataset. We do not clone your likeness, make deepfakes, put you in adverts, or sell your recordings or personal details to anyone, and you agree in writing to how a recording is used before you record it.
We are currently open to users in the UK, the US and Europe. Sessions happen in the app, so where you are does not matter as long as you have signal and somewhere quiet. If you are in London you can also record in person at our studio, Aloe Studios London.
Not yet. Earn With Aloe is an iPhone app, and it needs iOS 17 or later.
